King Coel’s Kittens have purchased two items of equipment which will enable Colne Radio go FM.

Jackie Bowis, Chair of King Coel’s Kittens, said:

We felt that this move from an internet-based radio station to an FM radio based community radio station was an important step for Colchester and one that could help give many other people working in the voluntary sector a channel in which to promote their organisation and activities. We wish Colne Radio every success with this move to FM broadcasting.

Colne Radio was launched as Radio Wivenhoe in 2011 to offer music, news and views presented by local people, for the local community.

Dave Purdey, chair of Colne Radio said:

We are delighted by the generous donation from King Coel’s Kittens. It takes us one step nearer to achieving our goal of going FM early next year. Our aim is to provide a truly local broadcasting service for listeners in Colchester and the surrounding area which helps promote and publicise local organisations, charities and community groups.

Colne Radio is now operating in FM please tune your radio to 106.6 to listen to this great local station.
